How to Avoid Burnout as an Entrepreneur

Here you are, working from early to late daily. Building your business, network – meetings, suppliers, staff, insurance. The whole list. But there is one thing on the list that needs to be just as important as the best price from your suppliers – YOU. Burnout as an entrepreneur is a real thing, and one of the things we need to work to avoid when working from home.

Self Care and avoiding Burnout must be a priority.

What this means to you could differ from the store owner from down the street. But it is up to you to figure out what you need to be able to recharge your batteries and ensure that you are always on your A-Game and ready to continue to scale your business.

Here are just a few ways to introduce self-care in your own routine and to help you prevent burnout as an Entrepreneur:

Arrange Schedule by Activities: By creating a schedule to break your workload down into “theme” days versus office hours, it could help you achieve the goals set in manageable pieces. I.e. Monday Business building, Tuesday Client Calls, Wednesday Social Media, etc.

Work on the Business – not always in it: By letting your staff that you have entrusted with different aspects of your business to move all the day to day pieces, you can then keep the focus on the big picture of where you want to take your business and not get bogged down by the little items. This also includes outsourcing work where the need is, bringing in team members to help in more areas and more. Your next moves, your next promotions, etc, as to keep the ship moving forward.

Blocking your day in a Calendar: By creating a routine, much like scheduling the day by the activities, it allows you to allocate your time in your power hours as to ensure you are using your time most effectively, but most importantly, giving you a clear end of day as to not overwork and overtire yourself.

Journaling Sessions: By starting your day journaling, not only does it give you a chance to start your day by setting your intentions, but it also gives you a chance to reflect on your gratitude for where you are and where your business has taken you. Take that opportunity to reflect on what matters, it keeps you grounded as you grow your business and your personal life.

Find Your Balance: This one seems general but it is very specific. Without you taking time for yourself, you will undoubtedly give too much of yourself. Taking time to go out for dinner with friends, do a stay-cation with family, go to a theater or just sit in a comfortable reading/listening to a good book and enjoying a tea (or beer if your preference).

These are just a few items to help curb burnout and encourage you to think greater for yourself just as you think for business. There are other great resources out there to help you strategize this part but don’t make it too complicated or you will never follow it.
